This is the third week in my "2011 Fall Trees" project. This week I posted two gingko pictures, one that had some yellow leaves and another with an awesome Love Shack birdnest. I also found some nice color on the local kousa dogwood, and some color in the cherry blossom tree, and got an interesting shot of a forest pansy redbud before the bright yellow color will arrive in a few weeks, but my favorite shot of the week was the honey locust during a rain storm (above). I'll remember that one because my son held the umbrella, hooking his arm in mine. Tree projects are good for my soul.  Click here for the third week of fall's pictures.

It only takes five minutes a day to snap a pretty leaf picture so I'm committed to documenting the trees this fall. Every day I'll be posting a new picture in my Facebook album, "2011 Fall Trees." Then once a week, I'll post the picture on my blog for those of you who aren't on Facebook. I'll post again once I get those pictures up. I know you've been waiting a long time for this! Just think: next year, in 2011, the Tree Grower's Diary will be celebrating 15 years on the Web and in my yard! Woo hoo! Spread the word! My trees are HUGE; I have LOTS of shade now. And no grass.

Fans of the purple leaf plum soap opera know that this tree, as seen in my yard, is also known as "Gregory's Tree." And Gregory has built quite a fan base as well with his cute pictures and poems. You can hear Gregory's sweet little 6-year-old voice on this year's Memorial Day slide show. It's not really tree-related, but Memorial Day in Metuchen is near and dear to my heart, as are my trees, so come have a look. I'm SO proud of Gregory for working on that little voice over! (You'll notice in the credits, however, that he is listed as "Greg." I'm really not quite sure when THAT happened!)
